Hi everyone! As some of you know, the past few months have been a whirlwind with my newborn and family life. Juggling everything can definitely be stressful, but one thing that always lifts my spirits is the arrival of spring! The sunshine and warmer weather (even if it's slight!) bring a renewed sense of motivation and hope. I know I'm not alone in feeling this way.
Speaking of hope and new beginnings, spring and summer are prime wedding seasons! So, if you're a couple planning your big day for Spring/Summer 2024 or 2025, this post is for you.
Over the next few weeks, we'll delve into a step-by-step guide to wedding planning, covering everything from choosing the perfect date to finding the right vendors and those special touches that make your wedding unique.
Let's Begin: The All-Important Wedding Date
Before diving into decor or vendors, securing your wedding date is crucial. This sets the foundation for everything else. It also helps when booking vendors, as some won't consider inquiries until you have a confirmed date.
Traditionally, wedding ceremonies and receptions happen on the same day. However, many couples are now opting to separate them. This flexibility allows you to:
Tailor your budget: Perhaps you prioritize a smaller, intimate ceremony but a larger reception.
Manage guest lists: You might have a more intimate ceremony with close family and friends, followed by a larger celebration with extended family and acquaintances.
Choose a unique ceremony venue: This could be a meaningful location separate from your reception venue.
Elope! Some couples choose a private ceremony with just the two of them or a small group of witnesses.
The beauty of wedding planning is there's no single "right" way. I always encourage my couples to research and discuss different options to find what resonates most with them. This could include a registrar-led ceremony at your local town hall or a more personalized ceremony officiated by a celebrant who weaves your love story into the event.
So, back to the wedding date! Once you have it locked in, you can start brainstorming decor and the overall aesthetic for your special day.
In Summary:
Set the date! This is the first step and paves the way for booking your venue (and ceremony location, if separate).
Next time, we'll rewind a bit and explore wedding venues! We'll discuss different types of venues available to find the perfect match for your dream wedding.
Who's excited to plan their Spring/Summer wedding? Let's get started! 🌻
